Problem

Early-stage product ideas are usually evaluated with intuition, shallow trend chasing, or inconsistent feedback from other builders. That makes it difficult to separate interesting ideas from ideas with real market traction.

IdeaValidator was designed to turn that fuzzy stage into a more repeatable evaluation process. The goal is not to predict certainty, but to create a structured decision surface from live market evidence.

System Overview

The system accepts an AI or software product idea, expands it into a structured evaluation prompt, gathers live market data, and scores the concept across four decision dimensions.

The output is intentionally practical: competitive context, strengths, weaknesses, a score explanation, and a roadmap for what to build next.

  • Google: search visibility, problem language, incumbent products, and commercial intent.
  • GitHub: open-source substitutes, technical patterns, repository activity, and implementation clues.
  • Product Hunt: recently launched competitors, positioning patterns, and visible market appetite.

Market demand

Estimates whether the problem is active, expensive, and visible across search results, communities, and existing products.

Originality

Measures how differentiated the angle is relative to direct competitors and adjacent tools already shipping.

Monetization

Checks whether there is a clear buyer, payment logic, and realistic path from user value to revenue.

Technical complexity

Assesses implementation cost, integration risk, maintenance load, and time-to-first-working-version.

System Pipeline

  1. Collect the user idea, target audience, and builder profile.
  2. Query live market signals from Google, GitHub, and Product Hunt.
  3. Normalize findings into competitor summaries and evidence snippets.
  4. Score the idea against the rubric using structured prompts.
  5. Adjust recommendations based on the user's technical background.
  6. Generate an execution roadmap with tools, milestones, and expected difficulty.

Lessons Learned

The most useful outcome was not the score itself. It was the combination of evidence, explanation, and next actions in one place. That reduces ambiguity for the builder.

Another key lesson was that evaluation has to adapt to the technical background of the user. A strong idea for an experienced engineer can be unrealistic for a solo non-technical founder unless the roadmap changes accordingly.
